I think it’s a urban myth.

Actualy it is best … Actualy it is best transport helicopter for battle – and it was proven by real actions. And actualy any other country was simply unable to combine so much roles in one machine. Mi-24 series is flying tank dude it was proven to be MUCH more effective aspecialy in mountains as ault and evac. helicopter – it can supress enemy, deploy troops, provide fire support. No other helicopter can do that. And actualy it is not slow, have nightvision and have way more firepower that lets say AH-64
Big yes. Slow? no … Big yes. Slow? no way. at 210 MPH it has a 40 mph advantage on a Cobra & a 50 Mph advantage on a Apache. It doesn’t need to do tight turns as it doesn’t attack “Pop-up & shoot” like it’s contemporaries, it races in, shoots a ton of ordinence & peels off like it’s ancestor the IL-2. It carries three times the ordinence, and can stay on station three times as long as well. It and the Hip perform excellent in African conditions that High maint. American birds can’t.
