I was a CPA for a couple of years. One thing I would do if offered it is to take governmental accounting. I didn't hear anything about it until the CPA review class good thing it was with cost accounting on the test or I wouldn't have passed.
Only take the exam once, it isn't any fun and would probably be less fun if you had to do it over. I promised myself a boat for passing my first try. Every time I didn't want to study another hour I told myself no boat and you need to study more months and wait for results again if you don't pass. Work in a CPA firm while in college the experience will help with the test and you might count some of it as experience when you are done. I was able to get licensed as soon as I got my test results.
Take a review class they are worth the money. I got mine half price because I set up the room and cleaned up after class but full price is worth it too.
