The governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty, has found a novel use for Facebook: conducting town hall meetings. On Wednesday, March 31, at 7:15 p.m. ET, the governor will use his Facebook Fan Page to make a major announcement and to gather feedback from his fans on “helping Republicans win the 2010 elections.”
While it’s unclear exactly how Pawlenty’s town hall will be conducted, we suspect that it will involve live video via his Facebook Fan Page, something that groups such as the Jonas Brothers have utilized with great success.
Governor Pawlenty has a decent following on Facebook — more than 31,000 fans — but we suspect it’ll rise rapidly if he holds more of these events on the world’s largest social network.
What do you think: Are Facebook town halls a good way to reach constituents or are they just publicity stunts? Let us know in the comments.
