Apple is entering a new phase for the iPad … competition. On the heals of HP announcing the HP Touchpad today, Daring Fireball blogger John Gruber speculated that Apple could release an iPad 3 about the same time as HP releases the HP Touchpad:
"Summer feels like a long time away. If my theory is right, they’re not only going to be months behind the iPad 2, but if they slip until late summer, they might bump up against the release of the iPad 3."
Gruber is known for blogging correct Apple speculation and news. Time will tell if he is correct here.
In another blog post this evening Gruber added more tantalizing details to his predictions:
"So, here’s my guess at Apple’s iPad plans for 2011: An iPad 2, fairly soon. Say, a March announcement, shipping in the first week of April. Faster, more RAM, maybe more storage, thinner and lighter, a front-facing camera. Running iOS 4.3. iOS 5, announced at a developer event in March, shipping in June. iPad 3, shipping in September, announced at the annual iPod event. Running iOS 5.1, same as the next=generation iPod Touch."

Should I get the AT&T Palm Pre Plus or an Apple iPad?
When the first Palm Pre was release on Sprint I wasn’t very impressed, but later when I started watching YouTube videos I fell in love. Then when Randall Stevenson said he would like to see webOS devices on his network I was ecstatic! Then Verizon said that you would see webOS devices on their network I thought great more developers. Then Verizon announce Pre Plus and Pixi Plus having announced it before AT&T I automatically envied them. Now AT&T has announced the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. I am SO HAPPY. I have an iPhone 3G white right now and I am just sick of the OS. I have seen OS 4 but I have had the iPhone and iPhone 3G and i just want a change. Android is too ugly to look at (without Sense UI) and I don’t want another iPhone so I thought webOS would be perfect.
There had been talk of an Apple Tablet for years. Then the iPad was released. Like a lot of people I was caught in the iPad frenzy. But then I started thinking that it really wasn’t that special. But now that all these iPad apps are coming out I am excited again. And I after seeing the web and all the things it can do I am just really impressed. Then I think Gen 2 will be better. Then I think if i always wait for the second gen I will never buy anything. And that defeats the purpose of waiting.
Why I am asking this is because my 15th birthday is coming up and I have a little over $200 saved up and my family isn’t rich but we aren’t hurting either. If i want the iPad I will have to use the $200 my dad gives me, the $200 i have, $75 from my grandparents and my mom said she would pay the rest for the 3G 16 gig model. If I get the Pre on the other hand i will spend my money on it and keep the birthday money i listed above and the money my mom would give me.
What should i do?
Get yourself a Palm Pre. Trust me you will love it. The iPad is kind of annoying when you try to type on the digital computer. It’s a good idea but needs work. Do yourself a favor and get the phone.
